Fan Support for GUEST ARTIST, Lauri Lyster on drums to join CanUS & Friends October 3rd!
Distinctively New Orleans plus some early swing standards, these are musicians who share your love of this era of music loved by Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington to name only a few with tunes you will recognize with a rhythm to feel, strong and true. If you have seen recent shows, you will know that a new face - Simon Stribling trombone and alto - is a terrific gift to CanUS and listeners. Add trumpet played by Alfons Fear, boosted by the Benny Goodman-esque clarinet & tenor sax of Al Pease and yes- your requests for “Back At The Chicken Shack” will be fulfilled! Avram McCagherty brings a sparkle to any of the many bands he leads and we get to enjoy him, too. His banjo and vocals are a treasure for our city and then - wait for it…underpinning it all is the one of the best bass players you will find anywhere, ex-Glenn Miller Orch. bassist & arranger, Joey Smith. So to finish and embellish is the early jazz piano style of Toni Blodgett, leader and with some vocals, too. I think you will want to be there with us in what is designed to honour every safety rule there is here at Canada’s oldest jazz club and restaurant. And the live stream is bringing the show to you wherever you are in the world! We love you.
