Josh Dixon

April 12, 1970 - Jan 18, 2012

I remember when Josh first came to the club. He was 14 and was playing with the Esquimalt High School Jazz Program. He played at Hermann's for 28 years. When Josh was 16, he joined the Tom Vickery Trio with Sean Drabbit and Tom.

Eventually, Josh wanted to form his own band with Noah Becker, Sean Drabbit and Brent Jarvis. When they couldn't come up with a name, I suggested they call themselves The Diaper Boys.

They used that name for a short while before using their own names including the Josh Dixon All Stars. He continued playing with the Tom Vickery Trio until recently.

The last time I spoke with Josh was on Jan 13 at the club. We had a nice chat and he suggested we have a drummer's stage built. As a tribute to Josh and to Lou Williamson, the club now has a drummer's stage.

Josh was always a gentleman and liked to help others. People loved him. He will be missed at the club; by his fans, his family, his friends, my staff and by me. Please join us on March 3, from 3-11 pm to celebrate Josh and his love of music. Everyone is welcome.
